TESOL Endorsement

HOW AND WHY I AM TESOL ENDORSED

Through Miami University I was able to complete multiple courses focusing on the culture of, accommodations for, experience with, and understanding of English Language learners and their language and academic needs.

I have been able to experience multiple interactions with ELL's and

multiple opportunities to teach ELL's in an AYA ELA classroom.

I feel confident in my abilities to not only instruct ELL's, but in my

abilities to welcome, provide a comforting environment for,

listen to needs and wants, appropriate and infuse

the culture into the classroom, accommodate for individual

language and learning needs, and most importantly just

allow and guide someone to learn in the way THEY need.

Accommodations are not scary. They do not require this insane

demand of time and energy. Accommodations should be and can be

implemented in every single lesson. They can range

from simple grouping to increase comfort and support to

constant visual, auditory, and lingual accommodations and

repetitions.

I have a passion for accommodations. Every learner learns in their own way. Why criticize someone for needs a little help. I promise myself and my students that I will treat everyone with respect. A person is a person. I am here to help my students get from point A to point B. If one student can do that with no help. Amazing. If another student needs visuals, adjustments, handouts, organizers, language supports, etc. That's what I am here for. I became a teacher not to do the bare minimum. I became a teacher to help students and guide them to learn. I wanted to get the TESOL endorsement so I could look at every student of mine and know that I could help them. I am passionate about accommodations, and I am understanding that no student is the same so we should never treat them like they are.
