WHY A CLASSROOM LIBRARY IS ESSENTIAL
CHECK OUT
SOME
HIGHLIGHTS
Students need support for reading if we want them to read.

In my classroom, I will have a classroom library. There will not only be the opportunity for students to check out books at their want and need, but there will be diverse findings. This diversity can be found in both genre and personal interest.

If a student says they hate reading, they just haven't found the right book. My classroom library will offer an opportunity for students to fall in love with reading and rediscover the thrill of a good book.

Whether that thrill comes from graphic novels, picture books, informational texts, science fiction, memoirs, etc., it doesn't matter. A reading thrill is not universal. What intrigues one student may intrigue another. In my classroom library, diversity can be found to complement a wide variety of interests, cultures, and values.

My library is still growing, but the foundation of my library is and always will be to diversify student reading, support the opportunity to read, and interest them in a variety of topics, ideas, explorations, and findings. A classroom library is an amazing resource my classroom will always have.
AND STILL
GROWING...
