Classroom Management
WHAT MY CLASSROOM LOOKS LIKE
Without classroom management, you will have classroom chaos...
and not the good kind.

Classroom management is something I feel confident in as a teacher. Not everything is going to be perfect every second all 160 students are in my classroom. However, I know things will be organized, respectful, engaging, educational, and fun (of course).

Respect is a key factor in my classroom management style. In my classroom, there is mutual respect. I respect my students and I ask for the same back. I voice how I care for them, want the best for them, and respect them as individuals. This platform of respect is key in my classroom. Without a foundation of respect, I find it impossible to engage students in learning. I build this respect by allowing students to have not only a voice, but choice in the classroom. They help me create rules for the classroom, they can choose their seating, and they voice concerns of instruction and assessments. This is all given to the students, but they know that if they abuse my respect, then accommodations will be made. Retaining respect in the classroom is something I require in my classroom.
If you were to walk into my classroom, you would see student engagement. Whether that be student and teacher engagement, student and student engagement, student and text engagement, etc. My classroom will always be guided by student engagement.

My classroom management style leans towards a constant routine:
- Begin class by checking in on students
- Followed by instruction/scaffolding (of some platform/variety)
- Initiating to group/partner interaction to make meaning
- Leading to individual application of learning
- Finalized with teacher and class/group/partner/individual check-in of learning

This routine is a constant cycle that leads to not only a scaffolding of learning, but allows for students to expect a routine, relax, and accept variety within the routine. This routine allows for students to take control and acceptance of their learning.

My classroom management style depends heavily on respect to allow for organization, engagement, and productivity. I feel passionately about my foundation of classroom management. If my kids know I respect them, they are more likely to respect me back and engage and learn.
